AKS 2.2.1: Improvement of the AKS add-in for Excel
Hardinxveld-Giessendam, 18 april 2008: The most important improvements pertain to working with yield curves and life tables with year of birth. When these features are activated, formulas require additional parameters. This used to cause problems in existing Excel workbooks, containing AKS formulas. The mechanism for parameter passing has been improved such that these problems either don't occur anymore, or that clear diagnostic messages are given.
Usually, calculations with yield curves and life tables with year of birth are not used all the time. In previous versions of AKS, if these features were enabled, users were obliged to fill in the corresponding parameters for every calculation. In AKS 2.2.1, these parameters are “optional”, meaning that users can show or hide these parameters at any time.
Additionally, the following improvements have been made:
- Assumption data for a calculation can either be passed by referring to an item in the database, or by “overruling” an existing item (in previous versions of AKS, only the latter option was available).
- There is no longer a limit to the amount of text that can be filled in in parameter input boxes.
Migration path
Excel workbooks in the “old” format can continue to be used without conversion. However, if you want to enjoy the above-mentioned benefits, you can convert a workbook simply by pressing the “C” (Conversion) button on the AKS toolbar.
